In-home respite

Respite care is a short-term care solution allowing family members and carers an opportunity to take a short break, knowing that their family member is being looked after.

Caring for someone you love is rewarding, but everyone needs a break. In-home respite care gives family carers time to rest while your loved one stays safe and supported in their own home. NDNS provides respite care across Newcastle, the Hunter and the Mid North Coast.

Flexible respite, on your terms

Our respite options are flexible, including short and long periods and overnight stays, depending on your needs. NDNS temporarily steps into the carer's role and delivers a flexible range of services, including domestic assistance, social support, shopping, personal care and medication monitoring.

When respite care helps

  • Your carer is going away, unwell, or simply needs a rest
  • You have recently returned from hospital and need extra help while you recover
  • You want a regular, planned break built into the week
  • You would like to try a little support before arranging more

A break you can trust

Knowing your family member is in capable, familiar hands is what makes a break restful. Our carers are trained, local, and matched to the person they support.
